The historic township of Whitton is situated 24kms west of Leeton and was a direct result of the extension of the South West Railway from Narrandera to Hay to connect valuable Riverina trade to Sydney.
A must see attraction in Whitton is the Whitton Courthouse and Historical Museum. The Museum was opened in 1988 and has unique historical memorabilia and restored buildings such as the Railway Station and butchers shop added to it. Opening hours are 1pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
A visit to Whitton will highlight the history and life of early settlers in this area. For further information on the history of Whitton and opening times for the Whitton Courthouse Museum, contact the Leeton Visitor Information Centre on (02) 6953 6481 or email enquiries@leetontourism.com.au
