Since 1982, when Leeton Shire Council was first invited to enter the Keep Australia Beautiful Council Tidy Towns Competition, the Shire has won a number of awards.

1982 – Best Tourist Town
1984 – Overall State Winner
1990 – Inducted into Hall of fame, Best Tourist Town in Hall of Fame
1996 – Local Government Award
2001 – Runner-up Premier’s Award for Best Overall Winner in 20 years
2002 – Spirit of the Bush
2003 – Wildlife Corridor: Fivebough Swamp
2005 – Young Legends Award: Aaron McDonnell, Waste Minimisation Award: Soilwise
2006 – Overall State Winner, First in Population Category D, Litter Prevention Award: Clean Up Leeton, Club Partnership Award: Leeton Soldiers Club
2007 – Resource Recovery Award: Leeton Landfill & Recycling Depot, Dame Phyllis Frost Group Award: Leeton Tidy Towns Committee
2008 – Third place in Population Category D, HC Waste Management & Litter Reduction Award: Leeton Landfill & Recycling Depot, HC Clubs Partnership Award: Leeton Soldiers Club
