Welcome to Leeton

Leeton is situated in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area in the Riverina Region of southern New South Wales. The area was once described as a ‘howling wilderness’ but is now the heart of one of the richest food producing areas of Australia.

Leeton is the first of the planned towns in the M.I.A. and was designed by famous American Architect, Walter Burley Griffin.

Tree lined streets, well tended parks and attractive residential areas set the Leeton scene and the town has been well recognised with major Tidy Town and Best Tourist Town Awards in recent years.

Weirs, canals and irrigated ricefields surround Leeton, and orchards, vineyards and vegetable plantings add to the garden theme.

Leeton is a well-planned town that clearly takes advantage of its irrigation environment.
